Product Use Instructions 

Surface Preparation

Bare Concrete: Surfaces should be allowed to cure for am minimum of 20 days before coating. Excessive weak surface laitance must be removed by either acid etching or abrasive sweeping before coating. Aged, uncoated concrete surfaces are best prepared by abrasive sweeping. Contamination by oil or grease should be removed with an industrial degreaser before abrasive blasting or acid etching.

Coated Concrete: Worn but sound coatings may be coated after a thorough and vigorous cleaning. Bio-Gard E251 will not soften existing coatings since it contains no solvents. Ultimate adhesion of the coating system will be determined by strength and adhesion of existing coating. If the integrity of the existing coating is questionable, remove by abrasive blasting or other mechanical means.

Metallic Substrate: Proper surface preparation plays a key part in obtaining optimum performance. The best preparation method is by abrasive blasting using clean, dry compressed air to achieve a SSPC-SP10 ” White Metal Blast” with a 2.5 mil anchor profile. When not possible to abrasive blast, provide alternative surface profile by abrasive discing, needle gunning, or high pressure water blast over 8,000 psi.

Mixing Procedures

This material is a two-component product, premeasured to produce the desired kit size once part A and B are mixed. For small small kits, a Jiffy type mixer with a high torque motor is recommended for proper blending. Pour the curing agent into the base and mix for about 1 minute, taking care to reach all corners and walls to eliminate unmixed material. Unmixed material will never harden. Material may immediately be used.

Application 

Application on flooring is assisted by use of a squeegee to distribute material over application area then back rolling with a 3/8″ nap roller.

For larger areas, application by heated plural spray should use the following equipment setup:

Mix ratio: 2/1 by volume

Fluid Pressure: 2,500 psi

Fluid Temp: 120-140F

Tip Size: .027″

Stripe coating is recommended for all sharp edges. Apply after surface preparation and allow to cure until firm enough to overcoat without displacing initial stripe coat material.

Once applied to wet surface, product can be submerged and cured under water. NOTE-  product cannot sustain wave movement until fully cured!
