What is 6700 dissipative anti-static floor paint?
6700 is a water-based acrylic vinyl static dissipative coating designed for use in ESD-controlled environments. It provides consistent electrostatic control with a resistance range of 10⁷ to 10⁹ ohms, helping prevent static buildup on floors and surfaces.
What makes this a “static dissipative” coating?
A dissipative coating safely controls static electricity by allowing it to gradually discharge rather than build up or discharge suddenly. The 6700 coating falls within the 10⁷–10⁹ ohms range, making it ideal for controlled environments where sensitive electronics are present.
Does 6700 meet ESD standards?
Yes. 6700 conforms to ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014 when tested according to ANSI/ESD STM7.1, making it suitable for professional ESD compliance programs.
Where is 6700 ESD floor paint typically used?
This dissipative floor coating is recommended for:
- Electronics manufacturing and assembly areas
- ESD-protected environments
- Static-sensitive workspaces
It is specifically designed for environments where electrostatic discharge must be controlled.
What surfaces can 6700 anti-static coating be applied to?
6700 can be applied to multiple substrates including:
- Concrete floors
- Wood surfaces
- Metal surfaces
- Walls and other interior or exterior areas
Proper surface preparation is required for best performance.
Can this coating be used indoors and outdoors?
Yes. 6700 is suitable for both interior and exterior applications, offering flexibility across a wide range of projects.
How durable is 6700 dissipative floor paint?
This anti-static coating offers:
- Good resistance to abrasion
- Resistance to oils and washing
- Excellent adhesion and color retention
These features make it a reliable option for light to moderate traffic environments.
Does 6700 require a primer or topcoat?
- Primer: Recommended depending on substrate (especially for surfaces like tile, vinyl, or adhesives)
- Topcoat: Not required, but an optional acrylic clear finish can be used for added protection
This flexibility makes it easy to integrate into different floor systems.
How is grounding achieved with this ESD coating?
Grounding can be achieved using a copper grounding strip, typically installed at a rate of one strip per 1,000 sq ft, allowing the dissipative coating to safely channel static to ground.
What is the coverage rate for 6700 floor paint?
Coverage is approximately 200 square feet per gallon, depending on surface conditions and application method.
How long does it take to dry and cure?
At standard conditions (77°F, 50% RH):
- Dry to touch: 2–4 hours
- Recoat: 8 hours
- Light foot traffic: 24 hours
- Full cure: 3–5 days
Proper curing ensures optimal anti-static performance.
Is 6700 environmentally friendly?
Yes. This coating is:
- Low VOC (50 g/L)
- Non-hazardous
- Non-flammable
It is designed for safer application in industrial and commercial environments.
What finish and color options are available?
6700 features a low gloss satin finish and is available in:
- 9 standard colors (including gray, black, blue, green, beige, and safety yellow)
- Custom colors available upon request
This allows both functional and aesthetic flexibility.
Does this coating create “hot spots”?
No. The 6700 system is designed to provide uniform static dissipation with no hot spots, ensuring consistent ESD protection across the entire surface.
Can 6700 be used in heavy traffic environments?
For heavy-duty use such as forklift or pallet jack traffic, a more robust system (such as a multi-component epoxy/urethane system) is recommended instead of a single-component coating like 6700.
What preparation is required before applying 6700?
All surfaces must be:
- Clean and dry
- Free of oil, grease, and contaminants
- Properly cured (for concrete, at least 30 days)
Surface preparation is critical to ensure adhesion and long-term performance.
What temperature conditions are required for application?
Apply between 50°F and 90°F with relative humidity below 75% for best results
