Quartz Colored Granules To Decorate Floor
Quartz Color Granules are a natural stone product offering an exceptionally tough, durable and decorative aggregate that make resinous epoxy, polyaspartic, polyurea and urethane flooring as safe as it is ergonomic and decorative. When applied in a single or double broadcast they offer a great looking, long lasting anti-slip surface for high traffic commercial and residential areas. Quartz Colored Granules are composed of the finest uniformly shaped and sized quartz granules on Earth.
This unique product is brilliantly color-coated with a superior resin system and high-quality colorfast pigments to provide optimal durability and extreme performance in the most demanding environments. In addition to their superior resilience to harsh chemicals and UV rays, Quartz Colored Granules can be applied to achieve many different textures and levels of slip resistance to prevent slip and fall injuries and minimize liability.
Quartz Colored Granules sold in 50 lb bags. How much to use based on project size. Quartz Granules typically applied full broadcast to refusal into a colored basecoat. Full broadcast means granules applied so heavy coating can’t absorb anymore and sit on the surface. Recommend fix all floor imperfections (cracks, holes, spalls) before application.

We also offer option to create your own unique color blend at no extra charge. Select from 43 solid colors using the Create-A-Quartz Blend option to create your own unique looking floor.

We offer a larger 25-A grade option used primarily for trowel down application. If you want 25-A size granules, use the Custom 25-A option in the Color Selector and follow instructions to tell us what you want. Will need more epoxy, 80 sq’/gallon for base and 80 sq’/gallon for topcoat. Grade 25-A size is an angular, rougher more abrasive surface than smaller, round 40-S grade and not recommended for barefoot walking surfaces.
Note: Quartz orders are custom made at the time of order placement. Due to this, Quartz orders are NOT eligible for return. If you are not certain that you will like the selected Quartz, check out our Sample Page for a sample of quartz.
How to Apply Single Broadcast
- Step 1: Apply colored epoxy basecoat at 100 sq’/gallon. Recommend our HyperREZ UV Epoxy
- Step 2: Broadcast quartz granules at (1) 50 lb bag per 100 sq’ surface area while epoxy is wet
- Wait 20-30 minutes and if wet spots remain, broadcast additional quartz granules until wet spot gone
- Step 3: Apply epoxy topcoat. When HyperREZ tack free, remove all loose granules and apply HyperREZ epoxy topcoat at 80-90 sq’/gallon to cover. May require 2nd topcoat to fully cover granules.
- Can topcoat with optional Aspartic 85 Go Slow (coat 1 at 150 sq’/gal and coat 2 at 200 sq’/gal) or one coat Aspartic 100 at 80-90 sq’/gal to cover. May require 2nd topcoat if granules not fully covered. Aspartic 85 and the Aspartic 100 polyaspartics offer improved abrasion and chemical resistance as a protective topcoat and will not yellow outdoors (Aliphatic).
- If additional anti-slip protection is desired, suggest SSR-20 for least change in appearance.
- For “Double Broadcast” Simply Repeat (No Need For Colored Epoxy on Double Broadcast). Apply Clear Epoxy as both basecoat and over First Layer Quartz Granules At 80 Sq’/Gallon, Re-Broadcast Second Layer Of Quartz Granles To Refusal, Then Apply Clear Polyaspartic Topcoat. Double Broadcast Makes For Thicker, Even Tougher Floor System.

What is the difference between 40-S and 25-A quartz granules?

25-A (25 mesh, angular):
Larger and more aggressive. Offers increased slip resistance but creates a rougher texture and is not recommended for barefoot areas.
Do quartz granules make floors slip resistant?
Yes. When broadcast into a resinous coating, quartz granules create surface texture that significantly improves slip resistance, especially in wet or high-traffic areas.
Can quartz granules be used outdoors?
Yes. Quartz granules are suitable for exterior applications when installed with a UV-stable, non-yellowing topcoat. They perform well on patios, walkways, and outdoor concrete surfaces.
Are quartz granules UV stable?
The granules are color-coated for durability and color retention. For best long-term UV resistance, especially outdoors, a UV-stable topcoat is recommended.
How much area does one bag of quartz granules cover?
Coverage depends on the broadcast method and coating thickness. In a full broadcast system, one 50 lb bag typically covers approximately 100 square feet.
Do quartz granules increase floor durability?
Yes. Quartz granules improve abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and overall system longevity, making them ideal for high-traffic and heavy-duty flooring applications.
Can quartz granules be applied over existing concrete?
Yes, as long as the concrete surface is properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, structurally sound, and free of contaminants before applying the coating system.
Are quartz granules easy to maintain?
Yes. Floors finished with quartz broadcast systems are easy to clean and maintain. Routine sweeping and mopping with mild cleaners is typically all that is required.
How many color options are available?
Quartz granules are available in dozens of pre-blended color options. Custom blends can also be created using solid color granules to match specific design needs at no extra cost!
Are quartz granules returnable?
Quartz granules, especially custom blends, are typically made to order and are not returnable. Ordering samples before purchasing full quantities is recommended.
Are quartz granules better than vinyl flake?
Quartz granules offer:
