Random Cut Colored Glitter Flakes
Random Cut Colored Glitter Flakes are a unique and exciting polyester product that adds a diamond like sparkle to any flake floor, creating a luxurious dazzle pizzazz that will catch the light and eye of everyone who has the pleasure of viewing your masterpiece!
Can be used with any epoxy, polyaspartic, polyurea and urethane flooring project and mixed into any chip/flake blend for that extra “wow” look. Random Cut Colored Glitter is lightweight, averaging 1/8″ (.125″) in size and sold in 1 lb bags.
They are typically mixed with other flakes to add that something “Extra” and make the floor “Pop”. Suggested mix ratio of Random Cut Colored Glitter Flakes is +/- 3% – 5% of total lbs of chips/flakes used in your project. Since glitter is lighter than vinyl chips you get more impact with less.
Example floor using 40 lbs chips/flakes, suggested usage is 1 to 2 lbs of Random Cut Colored Glitter. For full broadcast Random Cut Glitter recommend 1 lb every 15 sq’.
How To Apply?
Use of Random Cut Glitter requires a 2 topcoat process vs normal flakes as they do not lie as flat as vinyl chips will after being broadcast but tend to stick up randomly through the coating. When your basecoat is ready for the 1st topcoat, use a 100 grit pole sander or equivalent to knock down the Random Cut Glitter. Do not recommend scraping this step as they don’t knock off easily and don’t recommend an industrial sander as it is too aggressive in this step.
Apply 1st topcoat at 120 to 150 sq’/gallon depending on how much Random Cut Glitter was applied. Then when the 1st topcoat is ready to be topcoated, use a scraper and then industrial sander to knock down remaining glitter still sticking up through 1st topcoat. Apply 2nd topcoat at 200 to 250 sq’/gallon.
