E1900 Polyaspartic Clear | 40-50 Min Work Time | High Solids | Apply 40°F – 100°F | Chemical Abrasion Impact Resistant

E1900 is a two component clear high solids polyaspartic high performance floor coating for residential, commercial and industrial projects. E1900 produces a tough, durable clear non-yellowing film with excellent chemical, abrasion and impact resistance.

The E1900 is designed as a high performance, fast curing topcoat for flake and quartz granule floors as well as solid color coating systems.  Meets FDA requirements for incidental food contact and great for use in food plants and commercial kitchens.

Easy to use 1:1 mix formula, the E1900 is ideal for use as a clear topcoat in both interior and exterior Industrial and Commercial applications.  Not for use directly on unprimed surfaces and not designed for submerged service.   Can be applied to existing epoxy, polyaspartic or urethane coatings (do not apply to acrylic paint) after proper preparation including sanding and wiping with acetone solvent right before application (apply E1900 as soon as acetone solvent is dry).

Available in 2 gallon kit and 10 gallon kits (requires 1 week lead time) with mix ratio 1:1 by volume (1 part Base Part A to 1 part Hardener Part B).  Long 40-50 min working time @ 75ºF.

Apply at 3-12 dry mils per coat depending on system requirements.  As thick as 110 sq’/gallon (12 mils DFT – dry film thickness) for full flake and quartz granule systems to as thin as 420 sq’/gallon (3 mils DFT) topcoat over smooth pigmented epoxy surfaces.  Typical flake systems range from 110 to 200 sq’/gallon and when applied over solid color smooth coatings typically 250 to 400 sq’/gallon.

Application using a short nap roller 1/4″ or 3/8″ or brush.

BASECOAT: Recommend the E707HB Epoxy available in 20 colors or the 6009 Epoxy for low temperatures down to 35FDo not apply direct to concrete.  Can be applied to existing coatings after proper preparation including sanding using 100 grit and wiping with acetone solvent right before application (apply E1900 as soon as acetone solvent is dry – not for application to acrylic coatings).

TOPCOAT:  Can apply multiple coats of the E1900 Clear

MIXING AND APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

SURFACE PREPARATION

In all cases of surface preparation, the pH should be checked.  A pH reading of 7.0 to 8.5 is acceptable.  Also, a Water

Dissipation Test should be made on random areas of the floor to determine if the proper degree of porosity Has been achieved.  Before the installation of any Gulf Coast Paint products, the substrate should be examined for moisture. Test Test for moisture vapor transmission using ASTM F-1869 Standard Test Method for Measuring Moisture Vapor Emission Rate of Concrete Subfloor using Anhydrous Calcium Chloride.  The maximum allowable rate is 3 lbs. per 1000 square feet per 24 hours.  Test for relative humidity in concrete floor slabs using Probes according to ASTM F-2170.  This test mea-sures the presence relative humidity of the slab below the surface.  The maximum relative humidity should be below 80%.

New concrete must be cured at least a minimum of 28 days before applying a coating.  On-grade slabs must have moisture vapor barrier in place.  All laitance, sealers, efflorescence, chemical contaminants, grease, oil and other foreign matter must be removed.  The prepared surface must be clean, dry and structurally sound.  Recommend mechanical preparation by means of shot blasting or diamond grinding to achieve a CSP-2 OR CSP-3 profile, in accordance with the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI).  The profile should reflect something similar to a 60-100 grit sandpaper.  If the substrate is not properly prepared and the appropriate profile is not achieved, failure of the product to adhere to the substrate may occur.

Apply over appropriate primers or intermediate coats.  Not designed to be applied directly to concrete.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Stir each component to a uniform consistency. Do not vary proportions. PC-1900 is prepared by mixing 1 part BASE (Part A) to 1 part HARDENER (Part B) with a slow speed explosion proof variable speed drill with a Jiffy mixer. Be sure material is thoroughly mixed together. Do not thin E1900. Use as supplied.

For best mixing results and proper blending of parts A and B, recommend a Jiffy Mixer style drill mixer.

Use of an improper drill mixer can result in curing problems if the hardener also called activator (Part B) is not thoroughly blended with the resin (Part A) which can cause some areas on your floor to remain soft and not harden properly.  DO NOT USE A PAINT MIXER.  Most mixing problems described above can be traced back to using a paint mixer..  DO NOT HAND MIX as this approach can result in the same problems as using a paint mixer.

NOTE:  Always wear protective gloves and clothing while mixing and applying E352P.  Do not get on skin.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Best method of application is conventional or airless spray use up to 10% Thinner.  Flush equipment thoroughly with MEK solvent before using and use a moisture trap on the air supply.

Surfaces must be free from all oil, grease, water or other foreign matter.  Surface should be dry and above 50°F and rising.  Relative humidity should not exceed 85%.  CT-352 is moisture sensitive during application and initial cure.  Do not apply if surface temperature is within 5° of Dew Point.  Not recommended on floors, susceptible to hydrostatic pressure.   For safety and proper curing, proper ventilation is necessary throughout application and cure.  Any foodstuff and furnishings in the application area should be removed prior to application.  When using pigmented Intermediate Coats, be sure the batch numbers are all the same to provide a uniform color.

E1900 Clear polyaspartic coating is a top coat and is normally not recommended directly over unprimed surfaces. Apply over appropriate primers, intermediate coats, or decorative floors. Surfaces must be free from all oil, grease, water or other foreign matter. Surface should be dry and above 40°F. Relative humidity should not exceed 85%. E1900 is moisture sensitive during application and initial cure. Do not apply if surface temperature is within 5° of Dew Point. Not recommended on floors susceptible to hydrostatic pressure.

Best method of application is to pour material on the floor in a ribbon and spread with a flat blade squeegee.  Immediately backroll spread material with 18 inch roller, 1/4”–3/8” nap.  Maintain a wet edge. Do not over roll and entrap air.

Coverage over flake is typically 110-200 square feet per gallon and coverage over a smooth coating is typically 250-400 square feet per gallon.  For safety and proper curing, proper ventilation is necessary throughout application and cure. When using pigmented Intermediate Coats, be sure the batch numbers are all the same to provide a uniform base color.

Do not apply to surfaces below 50°F or above 100°F.   Do not apply over dew or frost.  The surface temperature should be at least 5°F above the dew point.  Relative humidity should not exceed 85%.

CAUTION DANGER

E1900 is flammable.  Keep away from all sources of ignition during mixing, application and cure.  The use of goggles, fresh air masks or NIOSH approved respirators, protective skin cream and protective clothing is a recommended standard practice when spraying.  This product is sold without warranty as to performance expressed or implied.  Users are urged to make their own tests to determine the suitability for their particular conditions.

LIMITATIONS:

  • Do not apply over frost surfaces or extremely high humidity conditions.
  • Do not apply over expansion joints.
  • Do not apply if the surface temperature is within 5° of the dew point.
  • Partially used containers must be reclosed tightly to prevent moisture in air from reacting with material and forming a tough skin.  Skin can be removed and remaining material used.  Be sure to stir.
