E-615 Epoxy Crack Filler | 100% Solids | Vertical, Overhead & Horizontal | Concrete, Steel and Wood

A 100% solids, low modulus, two component epoxy crack filler for concrete, steel and wood surfaces. A trowelable adhesive formulated to patch or resurface horizontal, vertical or overhead surfaces. The E-615 is a uniquely formulated moisture insensitive epoxy patching material that can cure in the presence of moisture.

E-615 can be used 1:1 with silica sand to make a mortar consistent material for troweling or patching. E-615 is used for mortar joints in block or brick walls or as a coving material.

Recommended as an epoxy resurfacer or crack filler for restoration or concrete floors, sumps, drainage ditches, manholes, loading docks, tanks, ramps, storage silos, pump pads and other concrete structures subjected to extreme chemical attack. Used as an epoxy filler to re-level and patch concrete floors to patch “bug” holes to build berms for containment of corrosive liquids, to fill badly exposed aggregate surfaces, etc.

Primer: Recommend E-155 Clear Epoxy Primer

Topcoat:  Most epoxy and urethane coatings

APPLICATION TEMPERATURE:

50°-120°F with relative humidity below 90%.   Do not apply over dew or frost.  The surface should be dry and at least 5°F above the dew point.

MIXING AND APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

SURFACE PREPARATION

In all cases of surface preparation, the pH should be checked. A pH reading of 7.0 to 8.5 is acceptable. Also, a Water Dissipation Test should be made on random areas of the floor to determine if the proper degree of porosity has been achieved. Before the installation, the substrate should be examined for moisture. Test for moisture vapor transmission using ASTM F-1869 Standard Test Method for Measuring Moisture Vapor Emission Rate of Concrete Subfloor using Anhydrous Calcium Chloride. The maximum allowable rate is 3 lbs per 1,000 square feet per 24 hours. Test for relative humidity in concrete floors slabs using Probes according to ASTM F-2170. This test measures the presence relative humidity of the slab below the surface. The maximum relative humidity should be below 80%.

New concrete must be cured at least a minimum of 28 days before applying a coating. On – grade slabs must have moisture vapor barrier in place. All laitance, sealers, efflorescence, chemical contaminants, grease, oil and other foreign material must be removed. The prepared surface must be clean, dry and structurally sound. Gulf Cost Paint recommends mechanical preparation by means of shot blasting or diamond grinding to achieve a CSP-2 or CSP-3 profile, in accordance with the international concrete repair Institute (ICRI) THe profile should reflect something similar to a 60-100 grit sandpaper. If the substrate is not properly prepared and the appropriate profile is not achieved, failure of the product to adhere to the substrate may occur.

Old concrete surfaces must be structurally sound. Any unsound areas must be repaired prior to proceeding with the resinous installation. For proper patching and repairing, using E-615 and / or E-1000 Epoxy Concrete Repair Kit with graded aggregate. Remove existing paint and loose concrete by rough sanding, sandblasting, high pressure water cleaning, shot blasting or grinding. In some cases where plant conditions allow, a stripper may be used to remove excessive build-up of paints or sealers.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Do not mix until surface has been primed with E-155. Best results are obtained if both Base and Hardener are stored at or above 75F for 12 hours prior to mixing to ensure normal viscosity. E-615 can be used neat or made as a mortar.

E-615 is prepared by mixing 2 parts Base (Part A) to 1 part Hardener (Part B) by volumed with a power mixer for approximately two (2) minutes. The importance of thorough mixing is extremely critical to ensure proper curing of the E-615. Up to 1 part of fine, salt free, Kiln dry aggregate can be mixed with 1 part of E-615 to make Epoxy Mortar.

When applying coatings over the E-615, grind or sand with coarse grit to achieve a profile. Solvent wipe to remove the dust.

CAUTION

E-615 is not a fire hazard; the flash point is 300F. However, under conditions of fire it will burn and release potentially toxic fumes. The Base portion is relatively inert physiologically. The Hardener portion contains amines and related materials. These can cause irritation and possibly chemical burns to the skin and eyes. This is also true for mixture of Base and Hardener. Wear safety glasses, gloves and protective clothing when using E-615. This product is sold without warranty as to performance expressed or implied. Users are urged to make their own tests to determine the suitability for their particular conditions.
