APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Joint Preparation: To assure a trouble-free bond, all dust, oil, dirt, foreign contaminants and laitance must be removed. It is imperative that there is no moisture present when filling the joints, moisture can cause the 10X to bubble and not bond properly. Use a vacuum attached saw with a diamond blade that will reach the base of the joint, removing any sealers, curing compounds or debris. Only use backer rod when joints are exceeding 2″ inches in depth.
Product Storage: Product must be stored in an area that will bring the product to room temperature prior to using. Continuous storage should be between 60 and 80 degree F. Keep from freezing, and do not store in hot environments such as inside of a truck or trailer, allowing the product to get hot.
Product Mixing: Shake cartridges vigorously fir 1-2 minutes prior to use. When using 10X in buckets, pre-mix , the Part A and Part B with a drill mixer for 1-2 minutes each using a slow speed mixer.
IMPORTANT
MIXING ORDER – Jiffy Mixer and Drill Motor Mixing Part A must be in the mixing pail first and the jiffy mixer MUST be moving and mixing the part WHILE the equal amount of Part B is evenly poured into the moving part A. DO NOT reverse this mixing order. Once Part B has been added to the moving Part A, mix the A & B at full speed, moving the Jiffy mixer up, down and around the mixing pail. Mix for no more than 60 seconds, then pour into application IMMEDIATELY —DO NOT WAIT.
Improper mixing may result in product failure.
For best mixing results and proper blending of parts A and B, recommend a Jiffy Mixer style drill mixer.
Product Application: Once the cartridge has been shaken, remove the nut from the cartridge and save it for further use. If a partial cartridge is used, the nut can be used to seal the cartridge head. Screw on the mixing tip, then insert the catrrtirdge into a dual comonent mixing gun. Hold the gun vertically, with the mixing tip pointed up, and start triggering the mixing gun so the product starts filling the mixing tip. Then take the mixing gun and point it to the ground, slowly discarding about 1 oz of product. when using a dual feed power pump, make sure the lines and dispensing manifolds are clean and the lines are clear from previous use.
When using the mixing gun, be consistent with the pressure and speed when pressing the trigger. Inconsistent pressure can cause the product to dispense unevenly and therefore won’t be mixed properly. When this happens, you may have spots in the joints that don’t cure because of not being mixed properly during dispensing. When using a partial cartridge, the mixing tip cannot be used for further application, it will have cured material inside of the tip. It is recommended to have extra mixing tips on hand.
Joints that are 1″ or less in depth can be filled in one pass. If the joints are deeper than 1″ , must be filled in 2 passes, fill the bottom half first, then follow up with filling the top half in the second pass. Overfill the joints slightly, making sure not to trap air bubbles. If there are low spots in the joints, or the 10X is not flush with the floor, abrade the 10X and reapply. The 10X will cure fast, once it’s cured, scrape the joints flush. Make sure you are using a scraper that has a sharp blade, using a dull blade will make it more difficult to scrape.
Cleanup and Restrictions:
Clean metal tools with a solvent, such as xylene or MEK. Cured material may be disposed of with no restrictions. Never discard and throw out uncured Part A or Part B. Mix them together to cure them, then discard.
Considerations:
- Do not store product in direct sunlight
- Surfaces must be dry and without contaminants
- Application Temperature 0-120F with a maximum allowed concrete moisture content of 5% (ASTM 2659 testing)
- Due to quick cure rate and dry time it’s suggested to thoroughly evaluate the product before using
