E70 Stretch-Guard Elastomeric Coating | Flexible 200% Elongation | 100% Acrylic | Concrete Stucco Masonry Metal | 800+ Colors

The E70 Stretch-Guard is a premium quality, 100% Acrylic, flexible elastomeric, Flat Latex house and trim coating.  It offers a breathable, mildew and dirt resistant surface.  The E70 is available white and pre-tinted in over 800 colors. This high performance coating offers the flexibility of a conventional Acrylic Latex House Paint with the added benefits of a flexible elastomeric coating with an ASTM rated elongation of 200%.

The E70 Series incorporates an exclusive resin technology which provides outstanding quality when applied like a conventional exterior paint. Also available in the High Build E70H heat reflective series which includes Cool Technology to help reduce surface heat, which in turn aids in cooling the interior of structures.

Available in 1 Quart, 1 Gallon & 5 gallon containers, the E70 Elastomeric Coating may be pre-tinted in any of the 800+ colors found here: E70 Color Fan Deck. To specify your selected color, please enter the Color Name AND Number in the NOTES section on the bottom of the CHECKOUT page.

Primer: When applying to metal or wood, a proper primer is recommended to ensure adhesion. Recommend our E7075 Primer or for unpainted metal surfaces Plugger Universal.  See application tab for further information.

Topcoat: None required. Can apply multiple coats of the E70.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE APPLICATION STEPS

Surface Preparation:
All surfaces must be free of dirt, oil, soot, paint chalk or other contaminants. A thorough washing with a T.S.P. solution is recommended to remove contaminants. Rinse completely with clear water. (See Stucco Surfaces).

NOTE: Retaining walls, planter boxes etc. must be waterproofed on the backside with a below grade waterproofing type material prior to back filling. Not recommended for application when the ambient temperature is below 450°F, to frost covered surfaces, or when the substrate’s temperature is below 500°F. Not recommended for application if rain is expected within 24 hours.

Application Instructions

Drying Time: Dries to touch in 30 minutes and may be recoated in four hours.

Extractive Bleeding: Redwood, Cedar, Mahogany and Douglas Fir contain natural water soluble extractives that tend to “bleed” or migrate to the surface. This bleeding may be unsightly but is not damaging to the durability of the product. If extractive bleeding has occurred, allow the coating to dry completely, then wash with a mild detergent solution and rinse with clear water.

New Wood: Remove all loose material and dirt. When light or pastel colors are to be used on Redwood, Cedar, Mahogany or Douglas Fir, prime first with our 7075 Primer.  Smoothly finished wood should be sanded first or primed. Two coats of our 7075 Primer are recommended on Redwood or Cedar to stop tannic acid bleeding.

Unpainted Smooth Weathered Wood: Should be sanded, cleaned and primed with our 7075 Primer.

Exterior Plywood, including T1-11

  • Be sure to paint the edges of all panels, especially lower drip edges.
  • Dirt and loose wood fibers should be removed with a stiff brush.
  • For best results, brush or roll along the grain. If sprayed, apply liberally and then back brush. When spray is fogged onto the siding, too little is applied and it adheres only to the top surfaces of loose dirt and fibers which easily erode in the natural weathering process.
  • For maximum durability on badly weathered surfaces, prime with our 7075 Primer..

Solid Color Stain (Self Priming): For Exterior use on new, or previously stained shakes, shingles, rough sawn or textured siding, primed or unprimed hardboard siding. Prime all abraded or brushed T1-11 Plywood.

Stucco: Scrub, sand or hydro-blast to remove chalk and all loose, flaking or peeling material. Heavy chalk should be sandblasted or hydro-blasted off.

Metal: Metal must be free of rust. Clean and etch all new metal. Prime all bare metal with our 7075 Primer.

Mildew: DO NOT PAINT OVER MILDEW. Mildew is a fungus, brown, black, grey or white in color which will rapidly grow through any coating applied over it. A solution of 50% household bleach and 50% water will kill the mildew. Rinse thoroughly. Note precautions on bleach label before using.

Efflorescence: Efflorescence must be removed by sand blasting or thorough wire brushing and scraping followed by washing with a 10% solution of muriatic acid. Neutralize and rinse thoroughly.

Air Pollutants: Increasing levels of some air pollutants can combine with moisture to effect the appearance of any coating. A chemical reaction may occur which leaves a gray white “salt” on the surface. Removal by scrubbing with a detergent and recoating may be necessary. Light or pastel colors are suggested when problem is severe.

Clean Up: Clean Tools and hands with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

Thinning: Thinning is not recommended. If spraying, a small amount of water may be used.

Limitations:

  • Do not apply over mildew.
  • This product is not recommended for below grade waterproofing applications.
  • Retaining walls, planter boxes etc. must be waterproofed on the backside with a below grade waterproofing type material prior to back filling.
  • Not recommended for application when the ambient temperature is below 45F, to frost covered surfaces, or when the substrate’s temperature is below 50F.
  • Not recommended for application if rain is expected within 24 hours
