Synthetic Shellac Primer Epoxy Fortified | Stain Odor & Tanning Blocker | Anti-Microbial | Wood, Drywall, Stucco, Galvanized Metal

Synthentic Shellac is a high-performance stain, odor and tanning blocking epoxy fortified primer designed for a wide variety of uses and substrates. Our water-based shellac avoids the need for solvent cleaning of tools and hazardous odors during application. RainguardPro’s Shellac is epoxy fortified which dramatically increases performance compared to traditional shellacs while still remaining a water-based product for easy clean up and low odor applications.

Odors and stains are blocked out with a single coat. This low VOC product is ideal for interior and exterior use and resists the growth of mold, mildew, and microbes on the surface. Finishes and top-coats can be applied in as little as 40-minutes with good drying conditions and resists “hot” products such as lacquers and solvent-based topcoats.

Primer: For masonry surfaces, recommended Restore-N-Prep as pretreatment to properly clean the surface.

Topcoat: Most acrylic, latex and alkyd finishes and topcoats.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE APPLICATION STEPS

Surface Preparation

Prior to application, all surfaces shall be clean and dry with no oils, dirt, debris, rust, metal oxides, or minerals such as efflorescence, lime, and calcium. These stains, along with others, will prevent proper adhesion of RainguardPro’s Shellac to sufficiently seal for the warranty period.

The use of Restore-N-Prep® Concrete and Masonry Cleaner system is recommended as a pretreatment to clean masonry surfaces. Once clean, allow the surface to fully dry before sealing or applying a topcoat (See the Restore-N-PrepTM TDS for details). If the surface needs to be sanded prior to application, do not use sandpaper above 180 grit so as not to cause adhesion issues.

We recommend not exceeding 180 grit sandpaper. Surface preparation exceeding 180 grit may work as a polish for the existing coating or substrate. If you are using too fine of a grit sandpaper that can affect adhesion. For fine finishes we recommend 150-180 grit sandpaper.
