Garage updated with E-Green Polyurea Basecoat, Terrazo Flakes and 5500 Polyaspartic Topcoat
DESCRIPTION
Homeowner wanted to upgrade his 450 sq’ ft garage with Terrazo Flakes. To start, he prepared the concrete floor with a concrete diamond grinder. It is important to rough up the surface to ensure better adhesion of the epoxy coating system.
Next, he properly mixed the E-Poly Pigment of Sable Gray with the E-Green Polyurea Basecoat with a Jiffy Mixer. He then applied 2 coats of the E-Green Polyurea Basecoat at 225 sq’ ft per gallon. The E-Green was chosen for its extreme flexibility (300% elongation), excellent abrasion and chemical resistance and ability to deal with high traffic. It is 100% solids performance and can even be applied in cold temperature down to 0°F.
While the E-Green was wet, Terrazo Stone Flakes were broadcasted in to the epoxy for a heavy broadcast. The Terrazo Stone Flake blends use random multi-sized flakes creates a real stone appearance and helps hide any sub-surface imperfections.
Finally, a protective topcoat using the 5500 Polyaspartic EX Slow Set was used. This was applied at 275 sq’ ft a gallon. The benefits of using the 5500 was providing a beautiful, decorative high gloss appearance and provides excellent chemical and abrasion resistance.
