Outdoor Porch Dazzles with HyperBond Epoxy, Full Flake Broadcast, 5500 Polyaspartic
DESCRIPTION
A condo owner in West Palm Beach, Florida wanted to rejuvenate their weather-stained back porch with a fresh new look. To accomplish this, they asked their contractor, C&B Coatings LLC to install a full flake broadcast epoxy system.
Prior to application, the concrete had to be thoroughly prepared to ensure proper adhesion. This involved thoroughly cleaning the surface before shot blasting it. The purpose of the shot blast is to abrade the concrete to the point that it will easily adhere to the epoxy basecoat.
For their basecoat, they installed the 100% solids Hyperbond Moisture Tolerant Epoxy. The reason for selecting this epoxy is water insensitivity and ability to stand up to the South Florida weather. While the epoxy was still wet, they applied a full broadcast of the Flake Blend Opal (FB901).
Next, they applied a clear protective topcoat of the 87% Solids 5500-HH Polyaspartic; the 5500-HH is specially formulated for use in environments with High Heat and High Humidity. For slip resistance, they mixed 20 grit polybeads into the 5500-HH during the mixing process. The polybeads are an excellent choice for adding texture while having minimal impact on cleanability and appearance.
