BANQUET HALL & CONFERENCE CENTER FLOOR REDONE WITH METALLICS EPOXY
DESCRIPTION
Camp Ocean Pines & Conference Center wanted to upgrade their concrete floor used for conferences, weddings and large group gatherings. They wanted a system that looked great, was durable enough to handle the large amounts of people that regularly use their facility and yet was safe when the floor got wet. They chose a metallics marbled epoxy system made by Floor Products.
The concrete floor was thoroughly prepared prior to application of product. The floor was prepped with a concrete diamond grinder, washed and vacuumed. They then applied the 3 step process. They had a 3 person team on this project and spent about 3 hours for each step.
Step 1.) Applied HyperREZ UV Resistant Epoxy with solid color black pigment as primer at recommended 150 sq’/gallon. A solid color is key element in a metallics system as it aids the decorative look and black color is used in most metallics systems. (shown as 2nd to last picture on page)
Step 2.) Applied HyperREZ UV Epoxy as basecoat at 75 sq’/gallon (recommended to apply at 50 – 75 sq’/gallon) which provides great looking depth. HyperREZ Epoxy is specified for use in all Floorguards’ metallic systems due to its durability, decorative look and excellent UV resistance. The Deep Blue metallics colors was used with the HyperREZ Epoxy. Application technique is key to getting a great looking metallics floor system. How you move the squeegee around the floor, backrolling and where you pour each of the metallic colors is where the artistic flair comes in. Possibilities are endless.
Step 3.) Applied Aspartic 85 Go Slow Clear Polyaspartic as topcoat at recommended 500 sq’/gallon. Aspartic 85 enhances looks with a nice high gloss, clear protective surface to provide increased protection for the metallics basecoat with excellent chemical & abrasion resistance and a non-yellowing aliphatic UV resistant topcoat. The Go Slow version extends working time significantly from the regular formula.
Mixed the SSR-20 round synthetic polybead anti-slip additive to the Aspartic 85 Go Slow while mixing Parts A and B. Chose this anti slip as it causes the least change in appearance.
