E650 Non-Skid Epoxy Provides Slip Resistance to Wheelchair Access Ramp
DESCRIPTION
A homeowner in Marion, Texas had a need to provide a slip resistant surface to their wooden porch and wheelchair accessible ramp that would stand up to the wear and tear from frequent wheelchair use while providing a safe non-slip and non-skid. To fulfill this need, they turned to our E650 military grade non-skid epoxy that meets US Navy Military Specification Mil-PRF-24667B Non-Skid Deck Coating requirements for safe co-efficient of friction (COF) as well as ADA and OSHA anti-slip protection guidelines when properly applied.
The wood surface was sanded in order to open up the pores prior to application. This helps to ensure that the epoxy properly adheres to the surface. Generally, when applying to a wood surface, a primer like the E5015 Epoxy is recommended for best results.
Once sanded, the customer applied the E650 Epoxy using a Phenolic Core Roller to the porch and up the ramp at 30 square feet per gallon. After two years, the product was still in place and performing wonderfully. The only noticeable difference in the color due to prolonged sun exposure in the Texas sun.
