E650 Non-Skid Epoxy Protects Steel Plate Walkways for Ohio State University Shoring Project
DESCRIPTION
The Ohio State University undertook a new project, the “Animal Science Tunnel” to renovate a roadway and tunnel on their campus in Columbus, Ohio. During the renovations, the exposed areas were to be covered with 900 sq’ of Steel Road Plates for the shoring and protection of tunnels.
As the road plates were subject to foot traffic where pedestrian safety was paramount, and this project was undertaken during the winter months, it was imperative that the plates have an industrial grade skid resistant coating applied to them. The project engineers, RMF Engineering specified our E650 Non-Skid Epoxy for use on this project.
We first had them prime the steel plates with our industrial grade E15M Epoxy Mastic Steel Primer. Next, they applied our E650 Non-Skid Epoxy Floor Coating. The E650 meets ADA and OSHA requirements for safe co-efficient of friction and Navy Military Specification MIL-PRF-24667B for Non-Skid Deck Coatings.
As this project was done during November, the Low Temperature versions of the E15M and E650 were used, which allows for application and curing in temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit. The steel plates were coated with the E15M Epoxy Primer and 650 Non-Skid Epoxy indoors and then moved into place at the jobsite.
