METALLICS EPOXY FLOOR COATING SYSTEM EHANCES LOCAL BAR
DESCRIPTION
Local bar in Satellite Beach, FL wanted to dramatically enhance their flooring with a decorative metallics epoxy floor coating system. Flooring contractor CDA Solutions peformed the work with a 4 man team to install the 1,400 sq’ metallics epoxy floor coating system. They selected the Floorguard Products 3 part system.
Preparation: removed the existing vinyl floor and prepared the underlying concrete including making repairs, grinding the concrete and applying CMW 8000 Moisture Vapor Barrier to reduce the possibility of problems from moisture coming up through the concrete and to protect the floor coating system.
Step 1.) Applied HyperFLEX Quick Cure Epoxy with black pigment as primer at recommended 150 sq’/gallon. Selected HyperFLEX for its exceptionally quick 2 hour recoat window to significantly shorten project timeline. Black color is key element in a metallics system as it aids the decorative look.
Step 2.) Applied HyperREZ UV Epoxy as basecoat at recommended 50 sq’/gallon which provides great looking depth. HyperREZ Epoxy is specified for use in all Floorguards’ metallic systems due to its durability, decorative look and excellent UV resistance. Two metallics colors were used with the HyperREZ Epoxy. Deep Blue metallics pigment was mixed into 1/2 the gallons and Maui Blue in the other 1/2. Application technique is key to getting a great looking metallics floor system. How you move the squeegee around the floor, backrolling and where you pour each of the metallic colors is where the artistic flair comes in. Possibilities are endless.
Step 3.) Applied Aspartic 85 Clear Polyaspartic as topcoat at recommended 500 sq’/gallon. Aspartic 85 enhances looks with a nice high gloss, clear protective surface to provide increased protection for the metallics basecoat with excellent chemical & abrasion resistance and a non-yellowing aliphatic UV resistant topcoat.
The SSR-20 Polybead Anti-Slip was blended into the Aspartic 85 topcoat during mixing of Aspartic 85 Parts A & B. SSR-20 was selected for its ease of use with minimal changes in surface appearance while providing important anti-slip protection.
