E814R Co-Polymer Liquid Rubber Anti-Slip Roof Walkway

E814CP is a one part elastomeric co-polymer rubber based liquid with rubber granules incorporated to provide a defined waterproof walkway with texture and slip resistance to roof surfaces.  The modified formulation has excellent resistance to ozone as well as low termperature flexibility with 500%+ elongation, high tensile strength, UV resistance and exceptional weathering characteristics.

Used in conjunction with our E814RCP Reflective White Co-Polymer Roof Coating and E814CP Co-Polymer Roof Coating (11 Colors). The E814CP works on a wide range of roof surfaces including EPDM, APP, TPO, Hypalon, wood and metal.  Not recommended for application over tar based roofing. E814R is available in 12 different colors.

Comes in 1 gallon, 2.5 gallon and 5 gallons.  The white colored E814R offers energy savings from its high 85% reflectivty rating (ASTM E97). Coverage rate depends on surface conditions and application procedures. Normally applied in one coat with 1 gallon per 17.5 square feet at 96 mils wet thickness (56 mils dry).

PRIMER: None required.

TOPCOAT: None required

MIXING AND APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

PRODUCT STORAGE: Store product in an area so as to bring the material to normal room temperature before using. Continuous storage should be between 60 and 80 degree F.  Keep from freezing.

SURFACE PREPARATION: Make certain that the substrate where the product is to be applied is clean, sound and free of all laitance, dirt, dust, oil, grease, water, dew or foreign contaminants. Power washing will be an effective preparation method for most substrates. Wire brush or abrasive blast all loose and scaling rust from metal surfaces. When topcoating EPDM or seamed roofs, make sure all seams are secure. Precautions should be exercised when coating surfaces with insulation boards such as EPS to determine that the coating will not affect the underlying insulation. When the type of insulation board is unknown, a suitable test patch can be applied to determine suitability. Surface must be dry before application.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Do not apply material when temperature is below 40°F during the application time or drying period. Apply material when RH is below 90% for best results. Allow for adequate dry times between coats and before inclement weather or rain. Higher humidity or lower temperatures will slow the dry time.

APPLICATION:First, mask off the area where the liquid rubber walkway is to be installed. Then pour/spread walkway liquid rubber onto masked off area. Next, firmly press down on the material with a PHENOLIC CORE roller and spread the material evenly on the surface. Pour only enough material at one time that allows for rolling the material before it becomes tack free. Firm application pressure applied on the phenolic core roller will provide the texture and assure that the material is not being applied too thick. Be sure to apply this product at the specified coverage rate or recommended mil thickness. Some adhesives on existing structures (used to bond the rubber sheets to the deck/structures) may degrade, or are of a poor quality and may not re-bond when the swelling has recovered. Should this occur, you may need to re-bond the sheet rubber with quality adhesives. As we have no control over the type of adhesives used on existing structures, we cannot be held responsible for such occurrences. Apply one gallon per 17.5 square feet per coat (one coat recommended). Always check the substrate for foreign contamination and water before coating. NOTE: If applying over porous substrates, such as concrete but not limited to only concrete, always apply a test patch to determine suitability concerning out-gassing, which could result in pin-holing in both the first coat and subsequent coats as well as potential blisters from the out-gassing.

For best mixing results and proper blending  recommend a Jiffy Mixer style drill mixer.

REOPEN SERVICE TIME:  Take notice of the full cure time and do not open the area to abusive use before the full characteristics of the coating is achieved. Apply when weather permits 24 hours of rain free curing.

MAINTENANCE: Provide for routine maintenance of your roof to assure years of trouble free performance

LIMITATIONS

  • Allow material to cure (24 hours) before exposure to rain or dew.
  • Do not apply a second coat until the first coat is dry.
  • Close all sources of air intake from roof into building to prevent solvent odor transfer into building.
  • Do not use indoors. Product cures from solvent evaporation-
  • Do not apply thicker than recommended. Too thick of an application can effect insulation boards such as EPS.
  • Read the SDS before using this product.
  • Product is not resistant to solvent exposure.
  • Too thick of an application may cause some roofing systems such as “not fully adhered EPDM” to rumple and exhibit some substrate waviness after the application.  This waviness will diminish with time, although it may not completely disappear. However, this will not diminish the performance of the substrate.
