Outdoor Porch Project Revamped with HyperREZ Epoxy, Flakes and Aspartic 85 Polyaspartic Topcoat
DESCRIPTION
Homeowners wanted to upgrade their outdoor porch with an epoxy system. They first started by roughing up the surface using a concrete diamond grinder to a 60-100 sandpaper grit feel. Grinding the concrete is an essential step when applying an epoxy system as it ensures that the coatings will properly adhere to the concrete.
HyperREZ was then applied at 130 square feet a gallon. While the epoxy was wet, 1/4″ Creekbed Vinyl Flakes were broadcast into the epoxy.
To protect the epoxy and encapsulate the flakes, the Aspartic 85 topcoat (with a Polybead Anti-Slip Additive mixed in) was applied at 330 sq’ ft a gallon. We recommend adding 3-4 heaping tablespoons of Polybead per pound of epoxy. The reason for a topcoat is to protect the system below from impacts and abrasions that can occur from normal foot traffic.
