Porch Gets Facelift with Hybrid Stone Flakes and 5500 Polyaspartic
DESCRIPTION
“Everything came out beautiful and [I’m] very happy with the product. I would recommend George and Exterior Performance Coatings 1000 Times over!”– Google Project Review from Customer Tim T.
DIY customer wanted to bring his outdoor concrete residential porch back to life with a UV resistant, industrial grade coating system.
Several steps had to be taken prior to installing the final coating system, including repairing several small damaged areas with the E343 Concrete Patching Kit and grinding the floor with a hand grinder using a concrete diamond blade.
He then used a 2-step application process:
First, he applied 1 gallon of 87% Solids 5500-EX Polyaspartic pigmented with 12 oz of Medium Gray Pigment at 8 mils DFT (dry film thickness). While the basecoat was still wet, he broadcast 10 lbs of Agate Blend Hybrid Stone Flakes for a very heavy, near full flake broadcast.
Next, he applied another gallon of 87% Solids 5500-EX Polyaspartic at 8 mils DFT as a clear protective topcoat and a heavy broadcasts of 20-40 Mesh Silica Sand mixed into the topcoat to add slip resistance to the surface.
