Tank Lining Comb and Complex Structure Protected with Bio-Dur E560
DESCRIPTION
A steel tank with complex internal geometry required long-term corrosion protection. The structure’s irregular surfaces made traditional spray application difficult, and the coating needed to form a tough, durable barrier capable of withstanding service conditions.
Bio-Dur E560, a Kevlar-reinforced, two-part epoxy coating, was selected for its exceptional toughness, high adhesion to steel, and proven resistance to corrosion in aggressive environments. Originally developed for underwater application and immersed conditions, its trowel-applied formulation made it ideal for coating complex surfaces where uniform coverage is critical.
The steel substrate was prepared by abrasive blasting to achieve a clean, profiled surface for maximum coating adhesion. Bio-Dur E560 was then trowel-applied, ensuring complete coverage in all recesses and contours of the tank’s geometry. The Kevlar reinforcement provided additional strength and wear resistance.
The coating cured to a hard, seamless protective film, effectively sealing the steel against corrosive attack. The completed application delivered a durable, long-life corrosion barrier with excellent mechanical strength, ensuring extended service life for the tank.
