Seafood Distributor Creates Beautiful Showroom Floor With Metallic Marbled Epoxy
DESCRIPTION
A seafood distributor in Virginia wanted to create a dazzling shop floor. To do that, they decided to install a Metallic Marbled Epoxy System.
The concrete was thoroughly prepared prior to starting this application to ensure that the system properly adhered to the concrete. This is best done using a Concrete Diamond Grinder to abrade the floor to achieve a 60-100 grit sandpaper feel.
Then came the 3-Step Application Procedure:
Step 1: They applied 7 gallons of our E5015 Water Based Epoxy Primer in a black color. The primer serves 2 purposes. First, all metallic epoxy systems should have a solid color base to set a color “tone” for your metallics system as metallic pigments are translucent “see through” and to prevent the concrete color from being seen below the metallic pigments.
The second purpose of a primer is to reduce the risk of the concrete outgassing after application. Outgassing occurs about 3-5% of the time and is when air is released from the concrete after applying the coating, which can cause the system to take on the look of a lunar landscape and requires significant rework to correct.
Step 2: They applied a thick metallics layer for maximum 3-D affect, using 24 gallons of our 100% Solids Industrial Quality HyperREZ Clear Epoxy. They added 28 containers of Metallic Pigment (9 of Dolphin, 9 of Pearl and 10 of Twilight) to create a beautiful 3-D marbled look.
Step 3: They applied 10 gallons of the E322SG Urethane to provide a semi-gloss protective topcoat for the system. The E322SG provides excellent durability and impact resistance. It also provides very good chemical resistance.
