5500 Polyaspartic Helps Rejuvinate Concrete Front Porch
DESCRIPTION
Homeowner looking to repair and rejuvinate well worn concrete outdoor front porch chose the 5500 Polyaspartic aliphatic coating system. The 5500 was chosen as it offers a tough surface, with an attractive high gloss finish and excellent abrasion and chemical resistance that doesn’t yellow in the outdoor sun like epoxy does.
The concrete was thoroughly cleaned, power washed and a concrete hand grinder with a diamond blade was used to rough up the concrete prior to start of the project. The CMW 8000 liquid moisture vapor barrier was spray applied to keep potential moisture from coming up from underneath the concrete and possibly causing problems. Polyaspartic and epoxy coatings can be damaged with excessive moisture coming up from underneath a concrete surface.
A concrete mortar patch was applied to significantly damaged areas of concrete to level it off.
One coat of the 5500-EX was then applied in a medium gray color as basecoat. A clear topcoat of 5500-Ex Polyaspartic was then applied.
