WOOD BAR DECORATED WITH METALLICS EPOXY
DESCRIPTION
Restaurant undergoing major refurbishment included construction of new wood bar. Owner looking to decorate the countertop with a metallics marbled epoxy decorative coating. They selected a two color system manufactured by Floorguard Products and sold by Exterior Performance Coatings.
Below are the steps they followed:
Preparation – Used a sander to rough up the surface
Step 1.) Applied HyperREZ UV Resistant Epoxy with solid color black pigment as primer at recommended 150 sq’/gallon. A solid color is key element in a metallics system as it aids the decorative look and black color is used in most metallics systems.
Step 2.) Applied HyperREZ UV Epoxy as basecoat at 50 sq’/gallon (recommend 50 to 75 sq’/gallon) which provides great looking depth. HyperREZ Epoxy is specified for use in all Floorguards’ metallic systems due to its durability, decorative look and excellent UV resistance. Two metallics colors were used with the HyperREZ Epoxy. Deep Blue metallics pigment was mixed into 1/2 the gallons and Maui Blue in the other 1/2.

Metallics Epoxy Pigment Used Deep Blue & Maui metallic colors (each 4 oz packet colors 1 gallon HyperREZ Epoxy)
