Bio-Flor E182 Upgrades Generator Room Floor Coating
DESCRIPTION
CHALLENGE
A generator facility required a durable floor coating that could be installed quickly with minimal downtime to the facility. The environment presented several restrictions: the enclosed space demanded a solvent-free system to avoid hazardous vapors, while the coating also needed to provide long-term chemical resistance and mechanical durability.
SOLUTION
BIO-FLOR E182 solvent-free floor coating was selected for its proven history of performance in demanding industrial applications. The material offered key advantages including a quick cure, self-leveling characteristics, ease of application by roller, and minimal smell. To enhance the system further, a polyurethane topcoat was specified to improve the UV protection and provide additional wear resistance. Both products were custom tinted to match the customers preferred colors.
IMPLEMENTATION
The floor surface was prepared by mechanical cleaning and solvent wiped. BIO-FLOR 182 was applied in a uniform layer by roller at 12 mils. Its self-leveling properties allowed smooth, consistent coverage with minimal effort. Once cured overnight, the polyurethane topcoat was applied with fine aluminum oxide aggregate mixed in creating a protective nonslip finish suitable for heavy use in the generator environment.
OUTCOME
The coating cured to a hard, seamless protective film, restoring the floors appearance and protecting against corrosive attack. The application was completed quickly while delivering a durable, long -lasting corrosion barrier with excellent mechanical strength.
