Non-Profit’s Wood Porch Revamped with HyperFlex Flexible Epoxy 5500 Polyaspartic with Full Flake
DESCRIPTION
A non-profit’s mission home wanted to revamp their recreational wood porch and decided on a professional quality epoxy system with full decorative flake and polyaspartic topcoat to get the job done. To accomplish this, they turned to our Industrial Grade 100% Solids HyperFlex Flexible Epoxy and 87% Solids 5500 Polyaspartic.
Prior to starting, the plywood surface was thoroughly prepared utilizing a floor sander. Sanding the floor ensures the wood surface is able to adhere to an industrial grade epoxy or polyaspartic coating.
First, they applied a coat of HyperPRIME Epoxy Quick Cure Bonding Primer, to better ensure adhesion to the wood. Next, they applied the HyperFLEX Epoxy pigmented with the Sable Gray at 90 sq’/gallon to the wood floor area. HyperFLEX is great for wood floors for use as a flexible membrane designed to absorb movement that can occur on wood floors and to prevent cracking of the coating. It allows you to put a decorative coating system onto a properly prepared wood surface.
While the HyperFLEX was still wet, they applied a full flake broadcast at 8 square feet per pound of flakes.
Finally, they then applied the clear 5500 Polyaspartic topcoat mixed with our Polybead Anti- Slip Additive. This ensured they had a slip resistant floor while retaining a nice glossy finish.

FB-516 Rapids Decorative Vinyl Flakes: Full broadcast of 25 lbs of 1/4″ Flakes
5500 Polyaspartic: 2 gallons of clear 87% Solids 5500 Polyaspartic
Anti-Slip Polybeads : 4 heaping tablespoons of 50 grit Polybeads per gallon mixed into the polyaspartic topcoat
