Apartment Complex Pool Recoated with Bio-Dur 561 & Fastonite E700
DESCRIPTION
A large apartment complex needed to completely renovate and recoat their swimming pool before returning it to service for the summer season. Prepping and recoating needed to occur quickly and required a system that would minimize down time, be simple to install, and cure without humidity or moisture concerns.
TFT’s BIO-DUR E561 and FASTONITE E700, both solvent free, high-performance epoxy coatings, were selected for their excellent durability, chemical resistance, and water resistant properties. Bio-Dur E561’s ability to adhere to properly prepared concrete and higher build application allowed for reconstruction of the damaged concrete while the FASTONITE E700 provided a smooth, glossy finish.
The contractor prepped the existing surface with pressure washing and grinding to remove damaged areas of the pool. After drying, BIO-DUR E561 was applied at a 15 mil thickness to fill any cracks, depressions, and voids. Once cured overnight, FASTONITE E700 in white was rolled on at 15 mils to create a smooth glossy finish. FASTONITE E700 in blue was rolled on to create edge striping and center lines. The entire coating application was allowed to cure for 24 hours before being able to return to service.
The apartment pool was recoated quickly and returned to service during a short outage window. This allowed the apartment to minimize downtime, expense, and tenant disruption. The apartment manager gave excellent feedback to the contractors and was very satisfied with the final result.
