5500 Clear Polyaspartic & Quartz Granules Adds Finish to New 28,000 Gallon Pool
DESCRIPTION
General Contractor finishing construction of a new residential salt water pool project was looking for an aliphatic, non-yellowing protective waterproof coating to embed decorative quartz granules as a final topcoat on the interior pool floor and walls. They selected the 5500-Ex Clear Polyaspartic which with its very clear, high gloss non-yellowing appearance and tough chemically resistant waterproof surface which met their requirements. Homeowner commented that 2 years after installation there has been no staining of the 5500 Polyaspartic and it continues to look great.
The quartz granules were broadcast to refusal (dry) into the 5500-Ex Clear Polyaspartic after application while the 550 was wet. On the vertical surfaces the 5500 had to be applied in multiple thin coats to prevent it from running. The quartz granules were broadcast using a leaf blower modified with a special attachment with a tank allowing the quartz granules to be quickly blown onto the surface. This was especially useful for ensuring even application on the vertical surfaces.
