Create-a-Blend Outdoor UV Stable Flakes | For Epoxy, Polyaspartic, Urethane Coatings | 26 Solid Colors to Choose From

Outdoor UV Stable Solid Color Flakes have been designed specifically to use in spaces with direct or indirect sun exposure for improved color stability and longevity of your floor. These unique solid color flakes can be purchased separately or combined into your own unique custom blend of multiple UV stable colored flakes using our Color Visualizer Software Tool  to see what your creation looks like.

Our outdoor UV stable flakes are made from an Advanced formulation with BASF Tinuvin® light Absorbers, Formulated with inorganic pigments and offering excellent long-term color performance and durability.

How thick or how many coats of a topcoat required depend on the amount of flakes used. Chips are sold in 10 lb boxes . How much to use depends on the look desired. The more chips used the less you see of the base coat color and more you see the chips. For a partial broadcast, you can apply chips at the rate of 20 sq’ to 200 sq’ of floor coating per lb of chips. For full broadcast to refusal it takes substantially more, between 5-10 sq’/lb depending on the size flake. Full broadcast means chips are applied so heavy that the coating can’t absorb anymore and they are sitting on the surface.

Outdoor UV Stable Solid Color Chips standard size is 1/4″. Other sizes in 1/8″ and 1/16″ are available just write in the notes section of the bottom of the checkout page.

What are Outdoor UV Stable Solid Color Flakes?

Outdoor UV Stable Solid Color Flakes are decorative, colorfast vinyl flakes designed specifically for exterior floor coating systems. They’re formulated with UV absorbers and inorganic pigments to help resist fading and maintain vibrant color when exposed to sunlight.

What coatings can these flakes be used with?

These solid color flakes are compatible with the following floor coating systems:

  • Epoxy

  • Polyaspartic

  • Urethane

Why should I use UV stable flakes outdoors?

These flakes contain UV absorbers and colorfast pigments specifically designed to improve long-term color stability in outdoor environments where direct or indirect sun exposure can otherwise cause discoloration.

How do I choose and customize my blend?

You can mix multiple solid color flakes to create your own custom blend. To do this:

  1. Choose the solid colors you want in your custom blend.

  2. Enter each color and the percentage you want of that color (must total 100%) in the Notes section during checkout.

  3. The flakes will be mixed according to your custom percentages.

How much product will I need?

Coverage varies with the broadcast rate:

  • Partial broadcast: Approximately 20–200 sq ft per lb, depending on desired visual effect.

  • Full broadcast (to refusal): Approximately 5–10 sq ft per lb (depending on flake size), where flakes cover the surface fully and are not absorbed further by the coating.

What sizes and packaging are available?

  • Flakes are sold in 10 lb boxes.

  • Standard size is 1/4″, but 1/8″ and 1/16″ sizes can be requested in the checkout notes.

How many colors can I choose from?

Because these flakes are custom-made to order, they are not eligible for returns.

How do I apply them?

  1. Apply your chosen coating (epoxy, polyaspartic, or urethane) per manufacturer recommendations.

  2. Broadcast the flakes evenly into the wet coating at your desired density.

  3. Allow the coating to set and then apply a clear topcoat to lock the flakes in place.
    (Always refer to your coating system’s technical instructions for best results.)

Will these flakes help prevent fading?

The UV absorbers and colorfast pigments in the flakes are designed specifically to reduce fading and discoloration due to sunlight exposure. While no coating system can stop all UV effects indefinitely, these flakes significantly improve outdoor durability compared to standard flakes. Utilizing a Polyaspartic topcoat that is UV resistant will provide best performance of the UV flakes over time.
