Skyway Bird Film | Reduce Bird Strikes | Optically Clear | UV Protection | Scratch Resistant

Avery Dennison’s Skyway Bird Film is a retrofit solution to reduce bird window collisions, conserve wildlife and meet emerging building compliance codes.

According to the American Bird conservancy, bird window collisions kill up to 1 billion birds each year. This growing crisis is driving a significant increase in legislation for bird-safe building materials. The new SkyWay Bird Film by Avery Dennison is an American Bird Conservancy – recommended product designed to effectively reduce bird glass collisions.

This exterior architectural window film is designed with specific dot pattern to deter birds from colliding with windows. Skyway breaks the reflection on glass, allowing birds to see that there is an obstruction, yet not hindering the interior view for building tenants.

This exterior architectural window film is designed with a specific 2″ x 2″ spaced pattern of 1/4 inch neutral-colored dots to deter birds from colliding with windows. SkyWay’s specialty neutral design breaks the reflection on glass, allowing birds to see that there is an obstruction , yet not hindering the interior view for building tenants. Thickness is 4mil and typical application is on exterior flat glass, acrylic and polycarbonate.

  • To save you time cutting film, custom widths cut to order are available. To do so, simply order the next largest width listed (ex: you need a width of 32″, then order 36″ and you will receive a roll cut to 32″ wide and a 2nd piece 4″ wide).

Special Considerations:

Because of the unique properties and varieties of glass, special considerations must be considered for windows and graphic applications. Avery Dennison accepts no liability for glass breakage.

  • The glass absorbs heat when exposed to sunlight. The degree of absorption across windows can vary because of shading, heating and cooling ventilation and insulation from window frames. These temperature differences across the window produce stress which can cause glass breakage. The ability of glass to resist breakage because of temperature stress is affected by windows size, glass thickness, glass treatments, quality and design.
  • Window cleaning methods also vary from the type of cleaner used to the washing methods employed. Specific chemicals used in window cleaners may affect the adhesion of pressure-sensitive graphics. Power washing methods may impact the adhesion of graphics if the water pressure or temperature exceeds the graphics adhesion capability.

How to Measure

Determining the amount of window film needed to cover your windows is not as difficult as one would imagine. Just follow these straightforward steps to easily measure your windows and determine the quantity needed.

Measuring Your Glass

Note: Measure width in INCHES and length in FEET (divide number of inches by 12 to convert to feet.)

  1. Measure only glass area of window, not entire window frame.
  2. First measure your glass from left to right in INCHES. This is your required width. (This width corresponds with the “Roll Width” listed on each product page.)
  3. Then Measure your glass from top to bottom in FEET. This will be your required length. (This length corresponds with “Total Length (Feet)” on each product page.)
  4. Be sure to write these measurements down. We suggest adding 1 inch in each direction to your measurements. This allows room for error and cutting during your installation. The slight overlap will allow you to carefully cut the film to the edge of your glass, custom fitting your window.
  5. Repeat measuring for each window.
  6. Add together the lengths for all of your windows to come up with Total Length of film required in FEET.

Ordering Your Window Film

  1. Navigate to the page of the desired film. Select the width in INCHES that best fits your windows as determined by the previous steps.
  2. Your Total Length measurement (length of all windows combined in FEET) equals the quantity needed in feet of your chosen film. Ships as one continuous roll
